We will continue our descent through the cloud forest, an area rich in endemic species such as the spectacled bear and the Andean cock-of-the-rock, Peru's national bird, known for its unique courtship display. We will also see orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and more. Early in the morning, we will board our boat and head to the macaw clay lick, a riverbank wall where various species of parrots, such as the blue-headed parrot, white-eyed parakeet, and chestnut-fronted macaw, gather each morning. They consume clay rich in minerals that aids their digestion and helps eliminate toxins from their bodies. Afterward, we'll return to our lodge for a delicious breakfast. Following breakfast, we'll embark on a 2-3 hour walk through the forest. After the walk, we'll return to the lodge for lunch, followed by time to rest or swim in the river. Additionally, you will have the option to go zip-lining after lunch. In the afternoon, we'll visit Lake Machuwasi, where we will take rafts to observe birds like the prehistoric hoatzin, and with some luck, spot other animals such as monkeys and capybaras. In the evening, we'll go on a nocturnal walk through the forest to search for insects and amphibians. After the night walk, we'll have dinner and spend the night. Optional free activity - zip line: Guests at Amazon Manu Lodge have the unique opportunity to experience an impressive view of the jungle as they glide through the canopy on zip lines between platforms built high in the trees. All equipment used is high-mountain grade and safe. After zipping through the treetops of the Amazon rainforest at high speed, you can rappel 25 meters to the ground (fishing is optional).
