Day 1 | LIMA

Highest Elevation: 161 meters above sea level (528.22 feet ASL)
Lodging: Hotel in Lima
This tour begins at the airport, where we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. We will gather all our passengers and then stop at Intihuatana Park, located on the Malecon of Miraflores, to observe the Pacific Ocean. Our tour starts through the modern residential districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. We will view the exterior of Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca ceremonial temple in the shape of a pyramid that has withstood Lima's urban expansion.
Our journey continues to El Olivar Park and the Financial Center before heading to the Historic Center of Lima. Declared a UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Humanity site in 1991, this area was the heart of the Spanish colony in the sixteenth century and houses some of the city's first buildings. We will visit Plaza San Martin, see old balconies and houses, Plaza Mayor, and its key landmarks like the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop's Palace, the Municipal Palace, and Desamparados Station, among others.
Next, we will visit one of the most significant monasteries of the seventeenth century, which preserves the relics of three Peruvian saints: Santa Rosa de Lima, San Martin de Porres, and San Juan Macías. We will then return to Miraflores, where you will have the option to stay at the Artisan Market in Larcomar or return to your hotel, marking the end of our tour.

We will then visit the Artisan Handicraft Market of Pisac, providing an opportunity to learn about the customs of its inhabitants. Lunch will be at a local restaurant in the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon, we will visit the fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo, which was built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from potential invasions by jungle tribes. Transfer from Cusco to the train station, followed by a train ride to Km 104.
Today's trek covers one of the most stunning sections of the Inca Trail. We will explore beautiful Inca sites, observe diverse flora and fauna, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes Mountains. Our 16 km journey starts in the Sacred Valley and ascends along the original Inca Trail to the Inca site of Wiñay Wayna, before continuing to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).
As we approach Machu Picchu, we'll traverse the lush cloud forest that blankets the mountain, spotting various plants, flowers, and birds. With some luck, we might even see larger mammals like Viscachas (rabbit-like Chinchillas) and Spectacled Bears.
After a full day of trekking, we will reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) in the late afternoon, where we will get our first glimpse of Machu Picchu spread out below. The late afternoon light is ideal for photography, as there are fewer tourists, making it a great time for capturing pictures of the site. After passing through the Sun Gate, we'll continue along the trail briefly before taking a side path that leads us to Aguas Calientes in the valley below, where we will check into our hotel.
DAY 5 | MACHUPICCHU SUNRISE EXPERIENCE
- Meals: Breakfast (if you booked the hotel with us)
- Distance: 8.9 km / 5.5 miles (by bus in 25 minutes)
- Difficulty: Easy walking
Waking up early (04:00 am), we’ll take one of the first buses back up to Machu Picchu to enter the site as soon as it opens (06:00 am). We will have a 2-hour guided tour of the site where you’ll learn about the Incas and explore the main areas of the citadel. After the tour, you’ll have free time to explore on your own and, if you have permits, you can hike either Huayna Picchu (2 hours round trip) or Machu Picchu Mountain (3 hours round trip).
You’ll also have the option to engage in additional activities (not included in the price), such as climbing Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain to enjoy the spectacular views, or visiting the new local museum or hot springs in Aguas Calientes.
Returning to Cusco, you’ll take a bus down to the Ollantaytambo Train Station, where you will board the Expedition train (departure times vary based on the train schedule and availability). At Ollantaytambo, you’ll meet our private van for the transfer back to Cusco.
Please note that hikes to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain depend on availability; let us know if you wish to add one of these hikes when booking.
We only transport Inca Jungle passengers in our private vans and do not use public transportation.
