Tourism in Ica and Ballestas Islands
The famous Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert in southern Peru and were put on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1994. The high, arid plateau stretches more than 80 kilometers between the towns of Nazca and Palpa about 400 km south of Lima. Many experts believe the Nazca Lines were created by the Nazca culture between 400 and 650 AD and the figures range in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks or orcas, llamas, and lizards.
