Description
Welcome to Lima, also known as the City of Kings! The capital city of Peru is a large metropolis full of history and cultural heritage. We’ll visit the Convent of San Francisco and its famous catacombs, museums like the Gold Museum, the Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru and the famous erotic archaeological collection at the Museo Larco Herrera. We’ll also visit the Inca religious site of Pachacamac.
DAY 1. - LIMA CITY TOUR
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel by our local guide and then start our walk through the city of Lima. Our tour will begin with a panoramic view of the Huaca Puccllana, a great archaeological complex built over 1500 years ago. Then we will head out to the historic center of Lima, crossing the Paseo de la República where we will visit the famous Plaza San Martin and then the historic Plaza Mayor on foot. This is where the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro founded Lima in 1535 with the name City of the Kings. In this area you’ll also be able to observe the architecture of the colonial era with its beautiful balconies and mansions.
We’ll go on to see the Government Palace, the Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace. Later we’ll visit the Convent of San Francisco built in the seventeenth century. We’ll be able to visit the cloisters, the impressive library as well as the underground galleries and catacombs. We end our tour of Lima by visiting the modern side of the city visiting the Olivar de San Isidro, the Miraflores residential area and the beautiful Larco Mar shopping center, which offers a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean.
DAY 2.-PACHACAMAC RUINS TOUR
We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and bring you to the Pachacamac Ruins which are located at about 19 miles (31 km) from Lima in the valley of Lurín.
The ruins were a Pre-Inca and Inca archaeological construction which also was the main ceremonial center to worship the God Pachacámac. Pachacámac was the creator of life and the universe. The main parts of the ruins are the "Templo Pintado" (colored temple) and the "Templo Viejo" (old temple). Specialists think that Pachacamac was inhabited between the years 200 and 1533.
After the Inca conquest the "Templo del Inti" (Temple of Sun) and an "acllahuasi" (house prepared for the chosen girls) were built. The Temple of Inti also has a great terrace with a view of the sea.
The conservation of this location and its restoration offer a glimpse into the history and the culture of the area.

The Cajamarca region is well known for being the Carnaval Capital of Peru. Every year, people from all over Peru join the locals in their celebrations by singing and dancing in the Plaza de Armas! In this 3 day tour of the Cajamarca region, you’ll be able to experience the local traditions, history and natural landscapes.
DAY 1.- LIMA CITY TOUR
On our first day of our tour, you will be picked up from your hotel by our local guide and then start our walk through the city of Lima. Our tour begins with a panoramic view of Huaca Puccllana, a great archaeological complex built over 1500 years ago. From here we will go to the historic center of Lima crossing the Paseo de la República. On foot we will visit the famous Plaza San Martin and then the historic Plaza Mayor, the place where the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro founded Lima in 1535 under the name City of the Kings. In this area you’ll be able to observe the architecture of the boom of the colonial era with its beautiful balconies and mansions. From here we can see the Government Palace, the Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace. Later we’ll visit the Convent of San Francisco, built in the seventeenth century to visit the cloisters, its impressive library as well as its catacombs. We will end our tour of Lima visiting the modern side of the city, going to the Olivar de San Isidro, the Miraflores residential area and the beautiful Larco Mar shopping center, which offers a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean.
DAY 2.- PACHACAMAC RUINS TOUR
We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and bring you to the Pachacamac Ruins, which are located outside of Lima, in the valley of Lurín. These ruins were a Pre-Inca and Inca archaeological construction which was the main ceremonial center where the god Pachacámac was worshipped. Pachacámac was the creator of life and the universe. The main parts of the ruins are the "Templo Pintado" (colored temple) and the "Templo Viejo" (old temple). Experts think this place was inhabited from the year 200 up to 1533. After the Inca conquest the "Templo del Inti" (Temple of Sun) and an "acllahuasi" (house prepared for the chosen girls) were built. The Temple of Inti has stairs made of stones and passages that go along the edge of the main structure built with adobe. The conservation of this location and its restoration offer a great view of the local history and culture from the past.
Day 3. – CARAL: THE OLDEST AMERICAN CIVILIZATION
Everyone will be picked up from their hotel in Lima and head out to the lost city of Caral. We will go down the Pan-American Highway for about 2 ½ hours to reach the Kilometer 184, before the town of Supe. Then we’ll take an unpaved road for 30 minutes to take us to the archaeological complex of Caral. When we arrive, we’ll start our walking tour with our local guide. During our visit we will visit the area called the Altar of the Sacred Fire, a small fire temple where they found the remains of charcoal, matte, bones, seeds and quartz. We will then go on to the main temple known as The Temple of the Amphitheatre with a ceremonial sunken plaza where it is belived the men of Caral performed their religious ceremonies. We will then visit The Pyramid, a large and imposing building within the urban area of Caral. According to archaeologists, the top of this Great Pyramid allowed for a good view of not only the activities in the city, but also a large part of the capital in the middle of the valley. Drawings are found on the walls and ornaments made with shark tooth were left behind. It is believed that the Great Pyramid was the center of the political, administrative and religious power of Caral. Going on with our walk we will reach the pyramid Huanca, a small building whose facade is located opposite an enigmatic monolith. Experts believe that this monolith may have been associated with astronomical and ceremonial activities. At the end of our visit to the ruins of Caral we will leave and drive to a restaurant for our lunch and then return to the city of Lima. We’ll arrive in Lima in the late afternoon.

DAY 2.- GUIDED TOUR TO LIMA MUSEUMS
Lima, being the capital of Peru, has spectacular museums that display large collections of treasures from ancient Peru. Visit the facilities of one of the most important museums of Lima "El Museo Larco Herrera," which showcases stunning fabrics and will show a glimpse of the ancient world of our ancestors 3,000 years ago. We will also be able to view the famous collection of erotic art from Peru, undoubtedly one of the most popular attractions in Lima which also includes a large collection of gold and silver pieces. EL Larco Herrera Museum is one of the few museums in the world where visitors can see more than 45,000 archaeological pieces. We will then go on to the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru. This museum is the oldest of Peru, and exhibits a vast and varied collection of the cultural heritage in Peru. It houses a variety of ceramics, textiles, metals, organic material, mummies and stone elements with highlights being the famous Estela Raimondi and the Tello Obelisk, impressive stone monuments belonging to the formative period (1000 BC). Here we will also see the famous Inca Sala also called Tawantinsuyu, which shows evolution of the Inca civilization. Among its main attractions are a model of the citadel Machu Picchu and other sacred monuments from within the Inca territory. After the Inca conquest they also built the "Templo del Inti" (Temple of Sun) and an "acllahuasi" (house prepared for the chosen girls).
