Tour the Condor Cross The Colca Canyon which is more than 1 kilometer deep is considered to be the deepest canyon in the world! It also has picturesque pre-Inca sites, breathtaking scenery and friendly Native American villages with traditionally dressed inhabitants. If you are lucky, you will also see the famous Peruvian Condors from only a few of meters away! Colca Canyon is definitely unforgettable and impressive!
One of our guides will collect you from the hotel between 3:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. From there we will head in the direction of the Colca Canyon. The first stop is the village of Chivay where they have a control point to buy/check the Tourist Ticket. We will have breakfast and then go on to the Cruz del Condor, where we will witness the majestic flight of the Condors!
From here we will hike to appreciate the depth of this beautiful canyon which is considered one of the deepest canyons on the planet. This part of our tour should take about 1 hour and 45 minutes. We’ll return stopping to see the mysterious Antahuilque terraces which are over thousand years old, then at the viewpoint Choquetico to see the hanging tombs and Lito models, during the visit we can also appreciate the picturesque villages of this valley with people wearing their traditional costumes.
We will continue to the town of Chivay to go to the Calera (hot springs) for about an hour to relax in the hot waters, and then in Chivay we’ll have lunch, and return to the city of Arequipa. On the way to the city we will stop at the highest point at Patapampa (4910 m) for a view of the volcanoes and the snowy Andes, then stop at Tocra arem Pampa where we can see families who are dedicated to raising llamas and alpacas.
Another stop is the National Reserve Salinas and Aguada Blanca where we see wild vicuñas (camelids in the llama family). After this visit we will return to the city of Arequipa where we will arrive at approximately 5:30 pm.
Between 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. one of our guides will pick you up from your respective hotels. From there the first stop will be in the Natural Reserve of Pampa Cañahuas to observe vicunas (part of the camelid family and a national symbol of the wild), and stop in Patawasi so we can have coca tea which is very good for high altitudes.
We will also stop in Pampa Tocra to see families who raise llamas and alpacas. The next point is Patapampa (at 4910m) with a viewpoint of the volcanoes and the Andes Mountains and experience the high altitude. From here we will go to Chivay where we arrive between 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm for lunch. In the afternoon we’ll visit Calera for the hot springs. There you can enjoy a relaxing swim in volcanic heated pools with water at temperature of 32-35 degrees. In the evening we will go to a restaurant which will have folkloric music!
You will have breakfast at 6:00 am and depart from Chivay at 6:30 am heading to Cruz del Condor. First you will stop at the village of Yanque (a traditional Andean village with a colonial church), and the lookouts of Choquetico to see the hanging tombs and Lito model, and the mysterious gaps of Antahuilque.
We will also go to the Cruz del Condor where you will appreciate the depth of the Colca Canyon and the majestic flight of the condors. On the return we will stop at the Mirador de Wayrapunko to see the agricultural terraces which are over a thousand years old. The next stop is the town of Maca with its beautiful colonial style church and colorful costumes. Afterwards we will return to Chivay, have lunch and return to the city of Arequipa at around 5:00 to 5:30 pm.
On the first day we will pick you up and take you through the Colca Valley, going by Andean towns and admiring the impressive views of the volcanoes. We will arrive in Chivay for lunch (buffet) and in the afternoon we will visit Calera's Thermal Baths. In the evening we will also have folkloric music during our dinner! We will spend the night in Colca Valley.
On the morning of the second day we will start with a continental breakfast and then travel to the Cruz of the Condor where we can observe the flight of condors. After this impressive show of nature, we will return to Chivay. On the way we will visit a few traditional towns and have lunch in the afternoon. From here we will return to Arequipa where we’ll bring you to your hotel.
On our final day, we’ll have breakfast and transfer you to your transportation (airport) for your following destination. Tours guided in English or Spanish with personal attendance.
On your first day you will be brought to you hotel in Arequipa. In the afternoon we will see the city, visiting the main attractions: the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Church of Jesus' Company, the Monastery of Santa Catalina, and the "Fundo el Fierro".
We will start the second day with breakfast and then head out towards Colca Valley. We will pass by traditional Andean towns
and admire the impressive views of the volcanoes. When we arrive in Chivay we’ll have a buffet lunch.
In the afternoon we will visit to the Thermal Baths of the Calera and for dinner in the evening, we will also enjoy
folkloric music! We will spend the night in Colca Valley.
After breakfast we’ll head out towards Colca Canyon. Once there we’ll go to the Condor's Cross to observe the majestic Condors! After this show of nature’s wonders, we’ll for visit the traditional towns of Pinchillo, Maca, Yanque to have a glimpse of the local Andean life. We’ll have lunch (buffet) in Chivay and then return to Arequipa where we’ll bring you to your hotel.
On our final day, we’ll have breakfast and transfer you to your transportation (airport) for your following destination.
