Tourism in Chavin de Huantar
Day 01- Ancash – City Tour
We will start your Ancash visit with a pick up from your hotel to take a City Tour. We will visit the archaeological remains of Willcahuain and Antaoco. Both are from the Wari – Tiwanacu period. Once here, we will be able to appreciate the funeral mausoleums that were built in different levels as well as the magnificent scenery that encircles it. Then we will make a visit to the Regional Museum of Ancash, where we will be able to appreciate the collection of sculptures and ceramics of some of the ancient civilizations of Peru. We will have the afternoon for free activities and you will overnight in Huaraz.
Ancash – 2D/1N.
We will start your first day of your tour by picking you up from your hotel and starting your City Tour of Huaraz. We will visit the archaeological remains of Willcahuain and Antaoco. Both are from the Wari – Tiwanacu era. We will be able to appreciate the funeral mausoleums that were built in different levels, as well as the magnificent scenery that encircles it. Then we will make a visit to the Regional Museum of Ancash, where we will be able to appreciate the collection of sculptures and ceramics of some of the ancient civilizations of Peru. We will have the afternoon free after the city tour and overnight in Huaraz.
Day 2 we’ll start with a breakfast before heading out to Pitec. From there we will walk to Lake Churup. This lake has crystalline blue water that allows us to see the bottom of the lake. It is definitely one of the most beautiful lakes within the Huascarán National Park. It has a panoramic view of the snow-covered mountains that surround the city of Huaraz. We’ll have time for a snack and then return to Huaraz where you will overnight.

After breakfast we’ll head out early to Pitec. From here we will walk to Lake Churup. This lake has crystalline blue water that will allow us to see the bottom of the lake, and it is considered one of the most beautiful lakes within the Huascarán National Park. It also has a panoramic view of the snow-covered mountains that surround the city of Huaraz. After a short snack, we’ll head back to Huaraz where we’ll stay overnight.
After breakfast we will visit one of the religious centers of the Chavin culture, more than 3000 years old, Chavín de Huántar. There we will appreciate its monumental architecture, with sunken plazas and subterranean galleries, the fine art emphasizing the Lanzon of Chavín, an impressive stone knife-like sculpture, the Estelas, with anthropic zoomorphic representations. We will also see the Portal of the Falcónidas with their columns and cornices and the Cabezas Clavas that surround the Great Temple. Afterwards we will return to Huaraz where we’ll stay overnight.

We will start our tour for the day after breakfast. We will head out to Pitec where we will start our walk to the Churup Lake. This lake has crystalline blue water that will allow us to see its bottom. The lake is considered one of the most beautiful lakes within the Huascarán National Park. It has a great panoramic view of the snow-covered mountains that surround the city of Huaraz. After a short snack, we’ll return to Huaraz where we will stay overnight.

We will start our visit of the department of Ancash with a City Tour of Huaraz. We will visit the archaeological remains of Willcahuain and Antaoco, both from the Wari – Tiwanacu period. Once here, we will be able to visit the funeral mausoleums that were built in different levels, as well as the magnificent scenery that surrounds it. Then we will make a visit to the Regional Museum of Ancash, where we will be able to appreciate the collection of sculptures and ceramics of some of the ancient civilizations of Peru. We will have the afternoon off for free activities and stay overnight in Huaraz.
After an early breakfast we will head out to Pitec. From Pitec we will walk out to Churup Lake. The Churup Lake has crystalline blue water that allows us to see the bottom of the lake, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the Huascarán National Park.
